Ecogest and Displaid together to innovate infrastructure technology management

25 June 2025

Strategic partnership between historic Ravenna-based company and Milan-based startup to revolutionize road monitoring and maintenance with digital and sustainable solutions

Milan, June 24, 2025 – At a crucial time for the safety and digital transition of Italian infrastructures, Ecogest S.p.A., a national player in the environmental management of the road and highway network, and Displaid S.r.l., a deep tech startup born at the Politecnico di Milano, specializing in intelligent sensing and data analysis by leveraging Artificial Intelligence, join forces to create a high-tech and sustainable project.

The partnership aims to transform the way bridges, viaducts and road venues are monitored and maintained by bringing integrated asset management and predictive maintenance solutions to the market. The goal is clear: to make Italy’s infrastructure safer, smarter and more sustainable, in line with European directives and NRP priorities.

The agreement involves the integration of Displaid’s technological expertise and Ecogest’s consolidated operational experience. Displaid will provide real-time monitoring systems based on advanced sensors and digital platforms for data analysis. Ecogest will field its technical structure, qualified personnel and a nationwide presence, ensuring the concrete application of the developed solutions.

During the course of the collaboration, joint offerings aimed at managing entities will be developed, tests on real cases will be initiated, and a shared commercial pipeline will be defined. A technical training plan for staff is also planned, overseen by Displaid, while Ecogest will be responsible for selecting the resources involved. Both companies share the intention to take this model beyond national borders, opening the project to an international dimension.

“This agreement represents a further step forward in the digitalization and sustainability path that Ecogest has been on for some time now,” said Valerio Molinari, Major Shareholder, Ecogest S.p.A.. The collaboration with a dynamic and highly technological reality such as Displaid allows us to strengthen our proposal towards the public and private market, offering increasingly integrated and intelligent solutions for infrastructure maintenance.”

“We believe that Ecogest’s widespread presence in the territory and great experience make it the ideal partner to bring our technology to be applied broadly on infrastructures,” added Lorenzo Benedetti, Displaid’s CEO. “At a time when these are increasingly central to the economic, social and environmental balance of the country, we believe that innovating means above all having a real impact. This understanding goes exactly in that direction.”

The understanding is not just a planning intention, but a concrete initiative: in the coming months the two entities will set up a permanent operational laboratory to test solutions in the field and offer them to managing bodies in turnkey mode. Activities will initially focus in Italy, but with a vision oriented toward European and non-European markets.

In an industry still marked by delays in the adoption of digital tools, this alliance represents a virtuous case of contamination between traditional industry and tech startups. An innovative model that could mark the beginning of a new era in Italian public infrastructure management. In a context where climate change is accelerating extreme natural phenomena, the partnership between Ecogest and Displaid becomes even more relevant. The two entities, in fact, are developing advanced technological solutions to monitor and predict risks related to extreme weather events. These innovations include sensors to monitor phenomena such as self-burning and slope failures, which, in addition to erosion, are increasingly affected by sudden landslides and other extreme weather events. With this alliance, we not only address infrastructure safety issues, but also anticipate the challenges imposed by climate change, with the goal of better protecting our infrastructure assets and ensuring a safer and more sustainable future.
