In Tortona Ecogest and Derthona Basket together to raise awareness among young people about the environment and the climate crisis

The initiative is part of the ‘Let’s Plant the Future’ project

Tortona, 11 May 2023 – Sport as a tool to involve young people and citizens by illustrating the effects of climate change and proposing good practices and sustainable lifestyles, capable of countering the effects of climate change: this was the focus of the event ‘Taking care of the environment will be your best basket’, organised by Ecogest and Derthona Basket today in Tortona, which saw the participation of over 200 students from

Institutes ‘Marconi’, ‘Peano’, ‘Santa Chiara’, ‘San Giuseppe’ and ‘Comprensivo B’ of the

Tortona area.

The initiative, part of the ‘Let’s Plant the Future’ sports project, which sees Ecogest among the

partners, has shown how sport and business, each in its own role, can, in an

virtuous synergy, give an ethical reading of their commitment.

“On this occasion, we wanted to take stock of what is happening in terms of climate, starting from Piedmont, to which we have dedicated a long and in-depth study with surprising results,” said Valerio Molinari, founder of the CCSC and reference shareholder of Ecogest.

foster a renewed awareness of climate issues, today among the real emergencies of the

planet’.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Tortona Federico Chiodi, Miriam Olmeida Alarcon, researcher at the Centre for Climate Change Studies, of which Ecogest is a founding member; also, by CEO Ferencz Bartocci, Derthona Basket captain Riccardo Tavernelli, Mike Daumm, and Luca Severini, who recently landed on the national team, as well as Leonardo Candi and Grant Basile, veterans of the brilliant competitive season that took Derthona basketball from third in the standings to the play offs for the Scudetto.
