At the International Symposium “Navigating the Future of Traffic Management” in Athens, the Italian company presents a concrete strategy for climate adaptation through green spaces and natural solutions
Athens, July 2, 2025 – Currently, another heat wave is affecting large parts of Europe, straining infrastructure, cities, and mobility systems. Climate change is a concrete and already ongoing challenge, requiring structured adaptation strategies and measures capable of acting over the long term.
In this context, Italy comes up with an innovative vision: transforming green into active infrastructure. This is the message brought by Ecogest S.p.A., a leading Italian company in the environmental management of road networks, to the international symposium “Navigating the Future of Traffic Management,” underway in Athens.
Leading the session dedicated to climate change was Valerio Molinari, Ecogest’s key shareholder and founder of the Climate Change Study Centre (CCSC): “Talking today about climate adaptation without including the role of green is like designing roads without considering asphalt. Our task is to show that there are real solutions that are scalable and already operational.”
Ecogest illustrated to the international audience some Italian best practices: from the vegetation barriers implemented in the Brescia area to green mitigation areas on the A6, to renaturalization projects in natural parks. An integrated approach that combines environmental design, technical maintenance, and innovation.
“It is no longer the time for lists of problems, but for operational responses. Green costs less, works better, and protects people and infrastructure. It just needs the political will to put it at the center,” Molinari highlighted.
The symposium session reaffirmed, also internationally, the crucial role of the environmental sector in planning and protecting the infrastructure of the future.
“It is crucial for us that our model is recognized as a reference at the international level. We will continue to develop it with the CCSC and share it with those around the world who dare to change,” Molinari concluded.
